The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands started its development in the Palezoic geologic era. This region covers parts of Quebec and Ontario. Two major cities in this area are Toronto in Ontario and Montreal in Quebec.

The main type of rock found in this region is Sedimentary. The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands has many natural resources such as, Forestry and the Niagara escarpment. This landform consists of a wide range of fruits, vegetables and grains. It is great for agriculture due to its excellent soils, fertile hills and warm climates. There are many scattered pockets of forest around this region. This land has many purposes including, but not limited to farming, agriculture and recreational purposes. Transportation roots and city development is made possible because of the region's flatlands.

An economic activity based on the natural resources in the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands is the tourism industry that is greatly promoted by the Niagara Escarpment. Tourists from around the globe come to admire the amazing view created by the falls and the beautiful forests. They also have the opportunity to hike along the Bruce Trail in summer and to enjoy the numerous ski resorts in the winter season. An environmental issue that is threatening the prosperous farms located between the cities, is the urban sprawl. The farms are minimized by this factor which will decrease the income from the farming industry and the urban environment will not be ideal for growing crops.
